Indian Aviation Boosted In March 2025

Indian airlines carried 1.45 crore passengers in March 2025, showing an 8.79% rise compared to March 2024, as per DGCA data. Last year, around 1.33 crore people traveled by domestic airlines during the same month. The increase highlights the growing demand for air travel in the country.

Among the airlines, IndiGo led by flying 93.1 lakh passengers, grabbing a 64% market share. Air India Group, which includes Air India and Air India Express, flew 38.8 lakh passengers with a 26.7% share. Akasa Air carried 7.2 lakh travelers while SpiceJet flew 4.8 lakh, holding 5% and 3.3% of the market, respectively.

In terms of on-time performance (OTP), IndiGo topped the list with 88.1%, followed by Akasa Air at 86.9%. Air India Group achieved 82% OTP, and SpiceJet posted 72.1%. The OTP figures were calculated based on flights from four metro airports: Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
