Foreigners Invest Rs 38,000 Cr In Indian Equities

Here is another indicator of India's growing economic power and positive impression in international market.

Foreign Portfolio Investors have shown impact in their engagement in the Indian equity markets this month by injecting more than Rs 38,000 crore.

This surge is primarily attributed to favorable shifts in the global economic landscape and a robust domestic macroeconomic outlook.

After a modest investment of Rs 1,539 crore in February and a substantial outflow of Rs 25,743 crore in January FPIs have turned the tide by registering a positive investment of Rs 13,893 crore in equities thus far in 2024 alongside Rs 55,480 crore in the debt market.

Experts emphasized that FPIs' significant role as buyers in March was driven by improved global economic conditions and a positive Indian macroeconomic environment.

Besides equities, FPIs have injected a substantial Rs 13,223 crore into the debt market this month, coinciding with Bloomberg's announcement of India's bonds inclusion in its Emerging Market Local Currency Government Index from January 31 next year.

While FPI inflows into debt are expected to persist, a sharp surge is deemed unlikely due to recent increases in US bond yields. However, this entire episode stands as an example for growing India.
