Amazon'S Cost Cutting On HQ Rental

Amazon'S Cost Cutting On HQ Rental

Amazon India is relocating its corporate headquarters from northwest Bengaluru to a site near the city’s airport to reduce costs. Currently occupying 5 lakh square feet in the World Trade Centre the company pays high rent which will drop significantly at the new location costing nearly a third of the current Rs 250 per square foot. The move is set to begin in April 2025 and conclude by April 2026.

The relocation may impact Brigade Enterprises, the real estate developer, as it will need to find new tenants for the vacated space. About 25% of apartments in the WTC complex are occupied by Amazon employees many of whom live nearby due to workplace proximity.

Financially, Amazon India's logistics and payments divisions grew revenues by 7–9% in FY24 with reduced losses. Amazon Transportation Services also saw a 7.6% revenue increase while its net loss slightly decreased to Rs 80 crore.
