The day after making likes private on his social media platform X, Elon Musk announced a significant rise in the number of likes globally.
By default likes are now private to protect users from trolls and enhance privacy. In a new post Musk noted a "massive increase in likes" since this change.
Now users can't see what others have liked but can view their own likes and the post's author can see who liked it.
Musk believes this change allows people to like posts without fear of backlash. According to X, likes are visible only to the user and the author.
The company mentioned that while the author will be notified, no one else will be, and bookmarks will remain private to the user. They might even let users customize this feature.
