Kiran Rao's movie, Laapataa Ladies, did well in theaters and is now getting love on streaming platforms too.
But filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan says some scenes in it are copied from his 1999 film, Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol. Ananth said he noticed similarities between the two films.
He mentioned that the start of Laapataa Ladies is like his movie where a guy confuses his bride at a railway station.
Another scene, where a cop can't recognize a woman because she's veiled is also similar. Ananth said his movie was on YouTube but suddenly vanished.
He didn't talk to Aamir or Kiran about this because he knows they would point out differences.
Ananth doesn't have proof now since his film isn't on YouTube anymore. He said he's flattered rather than upset.
Kiran Rao hasn't responded to Ananth's claims yet. Laapataa Ladies is praised by critics and fans and stars Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava and others.
On the other hand there are also claims in South Indian groups that it is also inspired from a 1980s Telugu film titled 'Patnam Vacchina Pativratalu'.
