In Delhi's Lok Sabha elections some voters were unable to cast their votes due to missing names from the voters' list despite having proper documentation.
Younus Salim and Azim Khan employees at Rashtrapati Bhawan, found their names absent at the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya polling station.
Shakeela Khan, Azim's wife noted that while her and their children's names were listed her husband's was not, preventing him from voting. Salim who voted in the 2022 MCD polls was also surprised to find his name missing despite showing his Aadhaar and voter cards.
Similarly, Shahnawaz Ahmed, a carpenter in northwest Delhi, could not vote at a Jahangirpuri polling booth as his name was absent from the list, although a female relative with him could vote.
Ahmed expressed frustration as he had his Aadhaar card but was still denied the right to vote.
The sixth phase of the seven-phase election saw all seven of Delhi's Lok Sabha constituencies voting. According to officials, 1.52 crore voters, including 82 lakh men, 69 lakh women, and 1,228 third-gender voters, were eligible to vote at over 13,000 polling booths across the constituencies.
While this is a case, there are also allegations that many votes of Hindus were also missed and so this should be looked at missed votes due to discrepancies in EC but not any religious disparity.
