Indian Embassy in Moscow declared the tragic death of an Indian national. The post states, "We have learned about the tragic death of an Indian national, Shri Mohammed Asfan. We are in touch with the family and Russian authorities. The mission will make efforts to repatriate his mortal remains to India."
Mohammed Afsan, a 30-year-old man from Hyderabad, fell victim to a scam promising lucrative jobs in Russia and tragically lost his life in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, allegedly fighting for the Kremlin.
In February, Afsan and numerous others, deceived by individuals including Faisal Khan of Baba Vlogs on YouTube, were misled into believing they would be employed as security assistants for the Russian Army.
Hemil Ashwinbhai Mangukiya, a 23-year-old from Gujarat, also perished in an airstrike during the conflict last month.
Around 100 men, including individuals from Kalaburagi in Karnataka and Narayanpet district in Telangana, were ensnared in this fraudulent scheme, unknowingly thrust onto the frontlines of war.
A recent video surfaced showing a group of seven men, clad in army attire, expressing their coercion into fighting in the Ukraine war against their wishes.
