Mira Murati, Chief Technology Officer of OpenAI spoke at Dartmouth Engineering about the promising future of AI by predicting that within a few years AI systems could achieve "PhD level" intelligence in specific tasks.
She likened GPT 3 to a toddler and GPT 4 to a bright high school student indicating the next model would reach advanced intelligence in particular areas.
OpenAI is also launching a cost-efficient version of GPT 4 named GPT 4o which is free for all users and offers enhanced text, audio and image processing capabilities. Paid users will get up to five times the capacity limits compared to free users.
Additionally OpenAI is collaborating with Apple to integrate ChatGPT into iPhones a move criticized by Elon Musk as potentially invasive.
Murati defended the integration stressing OpenAI's commitment to user privacy.
