CAs Offended: Vulgar Content On OTT

Netflix's upcoming series 'Tribhuvan Mishra: CA Topper' has sparked controversy on social media, with many criticizing it for negatively portraying Chartered Accountants (CAs).

The show follows an accountant played by Manav Kaul who becomes a gigolo to pay off debts diving into a chaotic misadventure involving guns and disguised criminals.

The trailer released on July 9 depicts the CA's mundane life before this turn of events intriguing some but angering others.

Critics argue the show disrespects the CA profession with many calling for its removal from Netflix.

Comments ranged from disappointment to outright offense urging the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to intervene.

However, some defended the show suggesting it could promote the profession.

Despite the backlash, the creators, Amrit Raj Gupta and Puneet Krishna, have not responded to calls for a ban.

The series featuring actors like Tillotama Shome, Shweta Basu Prasad and others is set to premiere on July 18.
