The Wikipedia states that the present value of Ambani's residence, Antilia, in Mumbai is worth US$4.6 billion, though it cost $1 billion to $2 billion to build it back in 2014.
But the hotbed of debate is, whoever sees it with their naked eye in person, they doubt if it's really worth that much.
In fact, US$4.6 billion means it is almost close to INR 38,000 crore. The size of the land is around one and a half acres on which it is built, and considering the land value, it is around INR 500 crore at present.
Coming to the building, it is a 27-story ultra-luxury tower, whereby all means, it cannot be even one-tenth of the actual claimed worth, say many architects, designers, and civil engineers.
"In spite of the expensive fittings inside the house, the cost of 38,000 crore is ludicrously unbelievable," says Rajneesh Mhatre, a civil engineer cum architect.
"It's all hyped. When it comes to Ambani, any big figure sounds convincing to the outer world as he is the richest personality. But Antilia is something certainly not in tune with the projected cost by looking at it," says a journalist based in Mumbai.
"There are many towers taller than Antilia in the Hiranandani area, but they are all not even worth 5% of the cost projected by Antilia. Some say that Antilia is more expensive than Burj Khalifa of Dubai, which is a bigger fun," says Subhash, a taxi driver.
On the whole, Antilia is certainly an expensive personal residence of one of the world's richest men, but its worth is not convincing to many who see it in person. So, whether the projected price is a myth or real should be answered by the official sources only.
